There is a saying in the footballing world, “Strikers win you matches, but defenders win you premierships”. Absolutely true! But what about the tirelessly working midfielders? Assisting the front men, helping out the defenders are the true attributes of any midfielder playing at the heart of a team. Frankly speaking, midfielders never get enough credit for their work. Seldom on the score sheet, are these hard working guys like Carrick, Gerrard, Kroos, Alonso are the power house of top teams across the world.

 10. Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson

Liverpool were so close to winning the league last season, but they have suffererd a huge setback since the departure of Luis Suarez. Gerrard has been playing in the defensive midfield position and had very less influence on the team in recent games. Henderson was quite good at the start of the season but was benched after a few bad performances. Lack of co-ordination between midfield and strikers have cost Liverpool many games this season.
